I was asked recently what the secret is to business success. Having coached some leading business minds to industry leadership I have had a good opportunity to understand what makes business owners a success. The truth is, as Shannon Davis from Metropole property Strategists tells us, there is no real secret other than hard work. There are in fact many ingredients which lead to business success. However, if I were to identify one single factor which I believe contributes the most to a successful venture it would be implementation. The very best and brightest ideas in business will wither away if not accompanied by a plan to implement.
In the Preset For Success system I explain the importance of aligning performance with people and product understanding in your business. Performance of you as a business owner starts with taking action, implementing. So here is a simple exercise. Set out some goals that you would like to achieve in the next 30 days. Limit it to two or three so it is manageable and you can be kept accountable. Write those three goals down on the left hand side of a page. Now, next to each goal write three steps you need to take in order to achieve the goal. Make sure the steps are such that if you take all three then you will actually achieve the stated goal. Finally, on the far right side, for each goal write down the very first implementation step you are going to take, TODAY! That way you can replace the today implementation step with a new one each day. This will keep you accountable and reduce the achievement of the goal to one simple daily activity.
